Crewse, Rex E.

Rex E. Crewse, age 72, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Friday, November 28, 2008, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born March 25, 1936, in Mansfield, Mo., the son of Arnold and Gladys Crewse. Rex graduated from Gainsville High School in 1954, and served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Commemorative Air Force, where he had received the Silver Magnolia Blossom Award in 1995 and 2006. Rex was united in marriage to Loretta Carroll on May 29, 1956, in Gainsville, Mo. Rex was employed with Do It Best Corporation as a Retail Paint Development Manager, where he had received the New Paint Business Award in 2005. Rex enjoyed flying, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Gladys Crewse; and a niece, Shannon Kirkland. Rex is survived by his wife, Loretta Crewse of the home; two daughters, Shelly Kalka and husband, Pete of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sherry Jenkins of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Emma Kalka of Seoul, South Korea, Meg Kalka of Fort Myers, Fla., and Trey Kalka of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother-in-law and his wife, Ron and Cindy Carroll of Springfield, Mo.; sister and her husband, Lana and Sonny Kirkland of Mansfield, Mo.; sister-in-law and her husband, Sandy and Rick Cowan of Springfield, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, in the funeral home chapel, with burial following at 1 p.m., in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
