TEST- Lee Roy Test Jr., "Roy Test", born in Parsons, Kansas, July
20, 1921, an active
community member of Baldwin Park, passed away at the age of 88 on
Sunday, December 20, 2009, after complications from a fall.
Roy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Irene Test, his son Roger
Test of Park City, Utah,
daughter Peggy Costales (Eddie) and granddaughter Cristina of
South Pasadena. Roy enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was a
co-pilot of the B-17 Flying Fortress of the 398th Air Force. He
completed 32 missions over Europe in 77 days in 1944, including
D-Day. After the war, Mr. Test worked as a linotype operator in
Los Angeles, and raised his two children in West Covina.
His wife Irene and he were volunteers in numerous clubs in Baldwin
Park. Roy proudly
supported several organizations that preserve history by
maintaining WWll aircraft, like
the Commemorative Air Force and the B-17 Combat Crewmen and
Wingmen. He also served as a docent at the Planes of Fames Air
Museum in Chino.
He enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and loved flying,
especially in the Warbirds. Another passion was to display his
WWll memorabilia at local air shows. Over the years, Roy
shared his experiences with hundreds of visitors and was
recognized as the B-17 pilot who
could still fit in his original uniform! Roy will be remembered by
all as a proud patriot, a fine
gentleman, and a great and witty friend.
Friends are invited to celebrate Roy's life at a Memorial Service
on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 12:30 pm at the planes of Fame
Museum, 7000 Merrill Ave. #17, Chino Airport, 91710.
